It’s 2010, and while we’re not proud owners of flying cars, the past decade has still been a revolution in technology. Perhaps we aren’t controlling our lives by the wave of our hands, but we can control our games that way. Ever since the Wii was released in 2006, gaming companies have been eager to acquire the new technology. Now, PlayStation and Xbox have created their own version of motion gaming; so what’s the result?PlayStation released their version of the Nintendo technology in September of this year. To start using Move, players need the new Move controller and the PlayStation Eye. Each device allows gamers to simulate the movements of the game they are playing. One of the best features about the Playstation Move is that old games can be converted to incorporate the new software. However, Kinect, by the makers of Xbox, goes one step beyond PlayStation and Nintendo. Scheduled for release in November, the Kinect technology doesn’t require a controller; to play a game, all you do is mimic the motion with your hand. Not only are players able to speak with their characters, their presence in front of the system is enough to log them into Xbox live.Over the course of four years, motion gaming has come a long way. Whether you’re a diehard Nintendo fan, or pledge your loyalty to the Xbox 360, each system has motion controlled technology for your entertainment.
