The year is 2011. 20 years ago a lot of people thought that we would be a lot more advanced in technology than we are. Some thought we would have flying cars, or even time machines. While these mechanisms are still a work in progress, here are three very cool pieces of technology that are worth taking a look at.

-Touch Screen Computers- One of the newest trends in technology seems to be touch screens. First, it came with phones and mp3 devices and now you can also have that touch screen laptop you’ve always dreamed of.

-3D Television- Have you ever watched a 3D movie and wondered what it would be like to watch some of your other favorite shows in 3D? Now it’s possible with the release of 3D television. All you need is the TV and the glasses to enjoy every show in the magic of 3D.

-Motion Sensing Gaming Technology- Gaming has been taken to the next level with motion sensing technology now available. Now you can be more active in your gaming.

Maybe your car doesn’t fly yet, but while you’re waiting you have got to check out these awesome new inventions.

So you have gotten to the point where you are tired of asking you’re 8 year old about how to turn on the computer. None of us were born being tech savvy and most of us will never need to know interface perimeters of server structure. How can you go about learning how to use new technology without having to learn the unnecessary?

The best thing to do is to search the internet for information. There are plenty of free online video sites that will offer you a helping hand on using today’s most sophisticated technology. This is a simple approach to an ongoing problem with many of us trying to stay on the cutting edge.

The next approach is to ask a friend or family member to help you. Yes, this can be a little daunting at first but this can be a fun way to spend time together. This can be editing vacation photos together or having them help you use your iPhone. No matter what it is family is always the best way to go if you can’t find other resources.

These are just few of the ways you can learn how to use new technology. The thing to remember is to not get discouraged. No matter what it is you are trying to figure out, you can just stay calm and it will come to you.

In today’s society technology changes every day, with new trends coming and going, everyone wants to keep up with what’s new. Consumers want all the latest gadgets, whether it be software, televisions, cell phones, etc…its to the point that its becoming an obsession and technology companies are always looking for that edge to become the first to offer new innovations for all their products. Let’s face it we live in a technological world where just about anything and everything depends on technology to function. The latest trend in cell phones is the new 4G network and, to me, it seems like it was just yesterday that the 3G network was introduced, yet giving me another reminder of just how quickly technology advances. The newest cell phones even have their own special operating system. For example, I just bought a new cell and the media capabilities are remarkable, it has 4G of memory, over 14 days of standby time, and the amount of storage space it has for storing all of my music files, pictures, and even streaming videos just simply amazes me. I’ll admit I’m a bit of tech junkie myself. I love the fact that on long road trips I can kill some time with my phone by playing video games, taking pictures and listening to music. My only worry is trying to keep up with all the new trends. Yes, I do like technology and I can’t wait for the latest trends.

Now you may think that having an Internet based business is going to be easy to run, but you could find that it is rather difficult to operate your business properly when you go on vacation. However, you could see that you can have an easy solution to running your business if you decide to have a wireless internet connection. Now for some people they may think that this is something that everyone has already, but they may not realize that they can have this connection in the hotels that they are staying in. The reason that you should consider this option is that you can check up on your business once or twice a day from the comfort of the hotel room. Then you will not have to worry about playing catch up on all of the questions that were asked of your business while you were gone, but you will also not have to worry about missing out on any of the orders that people make. When you have an Internet based business you could think that it runs itself. However, when you go on vacation you could easily miss out on business. That is when you should know about the reasons why you need to have an Internet connection that you can use anywhere.

If you’re thinking that the New Year will be a good time to get started on that fitness regime you’ve been putting off and think you want to tackle it via Wii Fit but have a few questions before you get started, following are some answers to the most common questions. Once read, there’s no time like the present to get started so don’t put it off for another year! What do I need to get started with the Wii Fit routine? It’s simple. You need a Nintendo Wii Console, a television set that is compatible with the Nintendo system (most modern ones are) and the Wii Fit itself which includes the game (exercise) disc, balance board, other controllers, and enough room to exercise (which isn’t really all that much since most is done on the balance board). I’m pretty overweight is there a maximum weight allowance for the system to work? The maximum weight the system is rated for is 330 pounds. If you need to shed a few pounds before getting started you can always do the dancing or walking and within a short time you should be good to go! Do I need to wear athletic shoes to work out? Nope, it’s actually preferred that you exercise in your bare feet to get a better grip on the balance board. Some people have mentioned that their feet are initially a little sore without the protection of a shoe, but this is rare and it soon passes. Can I use Wii Fit if I’m pregnant? Some women continue to use the system during their early stages of pregnancy, but it is always recommended that you consult your physician before starting or continuing any exercise routine. Also, one more point to mention since the system monitors the user’s center of gravity it should be pointed out that the physical change in body form can alter certain reading.

One of the biggest advances of the past decade isn’t a hand held item; rather, it’s an online website. Facebook has revolutionized the way we interact with friends, family, and businesses. Not only can we chat with our aunts and uncles in California, but we can make friends with individuals in Australia or Africa.Over the course of six years, Facebook has taken the lead in the social networking industry. Before there was Facebook, MySpace was the most popular social site; however, the old network has started to dwindle, and Tom (MySpace creator) is close to becoming his only online friend.Mark Zuckerberg, the network’s founder, started working on the Facebook concept in 2003. Zuckerberg was a Harvard sophomore then, and the initial site (Facemash) compared Harvard students by their looks. The site wasn’t actually legal, and the student was close to being expelled; luckily, nothing came of the incident. From Facemash, Zuckerberg found the inspiration for his next creation, and Facebook was born February of the following year.Originally Facebook was designed for Harvard students only. It wasn’t until later that the site was opened to other American and Canadian universities and that students could join using their college accounts. Now the site is available to users outside of universities, too; the website’s expansion has led to roughly 500 million users in 2010.Facebook is one of the most widely used sites around the world. While Zuckerberg didn’t create the social network, he certainly kept it popular.

When the iPod was first released in 2001, we marveled at the thought of storing all our songs onto one device. Now, Barnes and Nobles has done the literary lover one better; they created the Nook. With the ability to store all of your favorite classics onto the system, the Nook is a reader’s best friend.Released November of last year, you can choose from over one million literary works. The device holds 2GB of memory, which equates to roughly 1,500 eBooks. However, if you need even more books, you can purchase a Micro SD card to add more space. The device is perfect for students, as it allows users to bookmark, highlight sections, and add notes as you read. And as long as your wireless is off, the device can run for ten days without needing to be charged (so no worries of it cutting off in class or during your flight). The additional Wi-Fi and 3G technology allow you to connect to the internet wherever you are. Readers can purchase a Wi-Fi only Nook for 149 and a Wi-Fi and 3G device for 199. While it’s an expensive purchase up front, it’s one of the best technologies for literary lovers.

The world has literally moved to the tips of our fingers, and no matter where we go, we can take our libraries and our entire music collections with us. In a world where technology is so awe-inspiring, which devices rank highest on our list? Read on fellow tech manics.iPhone 4The iPhone is most noted for its video chat feature. For the first time in cell phone history, users can video conference one another from their mobile device. However, with the ability to multitask between several apps at once, as well as record videos in HD, the iPhone 4 is a must have product of 2010.KinectScheduled for release this November, Kinect is the only motion device that doesn’t require a controller. Steer yourself through rapids using your arms and legs, or get fit with the Zumba Fitness game.

It’s 2010, and while we’re not proud owners of flying cars, the past decade has still been a revolution in technology. Perhaps we aren’t controlling our lives by the wave of our hands, but we can control our games that way. Ever since the Wii was released in 2006, gaming companies have been eager to acquire the new technology. Now, PlayStation and Xbox have created their own version of motion gaming; so what’s the result?PlayStation released their version of the Nintendo technology in September of this year. To start using Move, players need the new Move controller and the PlayStation Eye. Each device allows gamers to simulate the movements of the game they are playing. One of the best features about the Playstation Move is that old games can be converted to incorporate the new software. However, Kinect, by the makers of Xbox, goes one step beyond PlayStation and Nintendo. Scheduled for release in November, the Kinect technology doesn’t require a controller; to play a game, all you do is mimic the motion with your hand. Not only are players able to speak with their characters, their presence in front of the system is enough to log them into Xbox live.Over the course of four years, motion gaming has come a long way. Whether you’re a diehard Nintendo fan, or pledge your loyalty to the Xbox 360, each system has motion controlled technology for your entertainment.
